BUNDORAN - A TALE OF TWO TOWNS
A new historical walking tour of Bundoran will take to the streets on Thursday 26th July. A Tale of Two Towns explores Bundoran's rich history as a seaside resort with a cast of characters from Viscounts to Bargain Kings....
One of the highlights of the recent Lobsters & Lettuce Festival in Bundoran was the arrival to site of over 40 characters in full costume on the Sunday evening. The characters, ranging from the Viscount of Enniskillen to Mary Ellen on her holidays from Fermanagh, provide a vivid framework for the story of Bundoran which will be told through a new historical walking tour which has its first outing on Thursday 26th July next.
A Tale of Two Towns is based on the historical research of Marc Geagan, author of Dancing by the Sea. The tour takes visitors through Bundoran’s streets and through its ages from the druids right up to the present day and touches on Bundoran’s links with the Famine, the Civil War and Irish literary figures as well as the town’s heritage as a holiday destination. Tourism Officer for Bundoran Town Council – Tracy Ferguson, welcomes this initiative: “It is great to see a new addition to Bundoran’s attractions for visitors and something which is based on local information and work.”
Scripted by Maura Logue, A Tale of Two Towns starts at Bundoran Tourist Information Office on Thursday 26th July at 8 pm and the walk will last approximately 1 hour. Tickets are € 7 and € 5 concession with group rates available. Contact info@dicoverbundoran.com for more details.
