Countdown to St Patrick’s Day in Bundoran continues
Preparations are continuing in earnest for this year’s St Patrick’s celebrations in the seaside town in what promises to be a fun filled event this bank holiday weekend.
The parade which takes place this Sunday 17th of March from 3:30pm will be led as usual by a colour party from the 28th Infantry Battalion at Finner Camp and will once again be broadcast live on the Discover Bundoran Facebook page from 3:30pm allowing viewers from all around the world to partake in the annual celebrations albeit virtually.
Considerable interest has been expressed by community groups and local businesses who will once again take part in the parade creating a truly carnival atmosphere on the day. Delegations from a number of Bundoran’s Douzelage partner towns including Granville (France), Meerssen (Netherlands) and Škofja Loka (Slovenia) will also add a European flavour to the parade by participating alongside locals.
A number of marching bands have also been confirmed for the day as well as a group of students from Gordon State College, Georgia, USA and local emergency services including Bundoran RNLI and Bundoran Fire & Rescue.
The fun kicks off from 3:30pm at East End with the parade winding its way through Main Street and concluding at Peter Brady Park at the West End. There are ample viewing spots along the route but spectators are advised to get their spot early as the town is expected to be extremely busy on the day.
