The Housekeeper double Feature Show
Dark Daughter Productions are on tour with a nostalgic and comedic “Double Feature” MARRYING MARY A comedic One Act by J.K. Lyons & THE HOUSEKEEPER, Written by Maura Logue.
Dark Daughter Production’s ongoing theme of Forgotten Women is again explored, in this 1950’s era story of “The Housekeeper”.
The Housekeeper, was written & is performed by Maura Logue as Aine, The Housekeeper. David Ison textures the story’s atmosphere, with his unique style on guitar & song.
The Housekeeper tells the story of Aine, a long term housekeeper. A fictional tale, but one that honours and mirrors the lives of many a Housekeeper, in the 1950’s & 60s . Aine “ …Sees all. Knows all, but never tells all”
The Housekeeper was last performed in an On Line platform, in May 2019, when Dark Daughter Productions was the first Virtual Artist in Residence at RCC, 2019 in Letterkenny, funded by Donegal Co.Co. for The Bealtaine Festival, 2019, and live streamed on fb and RCC networks.
Maura Logue of Dark Daughter Productions, has directed a cast of Community Actors, from South Donegal, in a hilarious “Kitchen Sink” Comedy Drama set in the 1950s , Marrying Mary by J.K. Lyons. The play talks of the “Live In” Housekeeper, Mary and her control on all things domestic, much to the annoyance of the newly married lovebirds, Dick & Sheila. MARRYING MARY stars Regina Fahy, Kinlough, as the formidable Mary. Seamus Mc Hugh Ballintra, in comedic role, as Pat McGrane plays Mary’s long suffering fiancée of 20 yrs..Marrying Mary also features Cathy Mc Veigh, Ballyshannon, as Shiela, the young ambitious bride. Paddy Meehan, Bundoran, plays her charming diplomatic husband, Dick . Eugene Perry, Ballyshannon, plays the smug Solicitor , for where’s there‘s property, there’s always the solicitor!
