“Bin it to Win it” anti-litter campaign announced for Sea Sessions

An initiative that is a joint project of Bundoran Tidy Towns Group and Discover Bundoran in conjunction with this year’s Sea Sessions Surf Music Festival has been announced in an effort to encourage festival goers to keep Bundoran tidy.

Four “litter drop” locations will be in place across the Sea Sessions weekend from June 19th to 21st at the GAA Pitch (festival campsite), Tourist Office, Supervalu (Tidy Towns sponsors) and at the top of the Astoria Road. Festival goers will be encouraged to use these bins to deposit their rubbish, and in return if they are spotted by our “Litter Patrol” then they will be rewarded with a voucher which could range from a free cup of coffee or ice cream to some Sea Sessions merchandise.

Everyone who is spotted putting their litter in the special bins will then go into a daily draw for a pair of tickets for next year’s Sea Sessions Surf Music Festival.

Event Organiser of Sea Sessions Daniel Browne said “we are delighted to assist Bundoran Tidy Towns and Discover Bundoran in this initiative and commend them for the work they are doing to help keep Bundoran tidy during the festival weekend. Being a “green” and environmentally friendly festival is important to us and it is with projects like this and help from the local community that we can achieve this aim.”

Bundoran Tourism Officer Shane Smyth added “we look forward to welcoming many thousands of visitors to Bundoran over the festival weekend but we want to make sure that the town is clean, tidy and litter free. We hope that this initiative will encourage festival goers to be more mindful of disposing of their litter responsibly and add to their further enjoyment of what is undoubtedly one of the biggest weekends in Bundoran’s calendar.”
