Bundoran Street Party & Classic Car Show to take place this weekend
The annual Bundoran Street Party hosted by Discover Bundoran, Macks Amusements & Olympic Amusements will take place this Saturday 22nd July on Main Street while Sunday (23rd) will see the Classic Car Show take place at West End Car Park.
Following on from last year’s successful event, the day will start with carnival workshops in the morning. Th fun continues on Main Street from 2pm – 5pm with bouncy castles, a bungee run, rodeo bull, gladiator ring, face painting, street entertainment and more. Main Street will be closed from the junction of Station Road down as far as Promenade (News & Views). Admission is free to the area which will also have a number of street performers taking part on the day.
On Sunday (23rd July), classic cars from across the region and further afield will descend on the West End Car Park (opposite the Allingham Arms) and will be on display from 12 noon until 5pm. While there is no fixed admission charge to this event, a donation is requested to the two chosen charities on the day – Bundoran RNLI Lifeboat and Ozanam House. This is an ideal event for the motoring fan who wants to see classic and vintage cars all in the one spot.
Event director for the Street Party, Tourism Officer Shane Smyth is looking forward to another family friendly event in the town ‘the street party was a great success last year so it was a no brainer to run it once again. We are thankful to our main sponsors Mack’s Amusements and Olympic Amusements without whose support the event wouldn’t be possible. It will still be weather permitting event so we will be hopeful for at least a dry day on the 22nd and we look forward to seeing lots of our locals and visitors on the street on the day. On the morning of the 22nd from 11am-1pm there will be Carnival workshops taking place at Bundoran Retail Park.’
The Street Party is one of the many events in the Bundoran summer calendar and is followed on Sunday 23rd by the Classic Car Show, hosted by the Donegal Vintage and Classic Car Club. Event director Donal McGettigan promises a wide variety of cars on the day ‘we had a spectacular turnout last year and we’re certain that this year will be no different. Classic car owners from all over the country have been checking in to make sure there will be space for them’.
