Tree planting workshop to take place in Bundoran
A Bundoran Tidy Towns workshop to encourage and demonstrate the correct planting of trees will take place at Bundoran Community Garden on Saturday 26th February at 11am.
The masterclass, delivered by renowned organic gardener, teacher and writer Klaus Laitenberger, will advise attendees on the correct way to plant trees in the Bundoran area as well as the benefits of planting native trees. On the day, a number of trees will be planted so that attendees will see first-hand the procedure for ensuring the longevity of a tree’s life once it’s in the ground. Attendees will learn how to prepare a tree planting site and properly plant the tree to ensure its survival as well as techniques critical to maintaining tree health including mulching and watering.
The workshop is being held by Bundoran Tidy Towns with funding assistance from Pobal in association with Green Education Ireland and will be of interest to residents of the town and the area in general who have space in their gardens and housing estates to plant native trees and will equip them with the knowledge to lead others in planting trees in the area.
Head of Projects at Bundoran Tidy Towns Gina Witherow said ‘this masterclass is all part of an overall vision to eventually see more trees planted in the town – particularly those native to Ireland. We hope that residents with a genuine interest in learning how to plant trees will take advantage of this workshop and become ambassadors for tree planting in the town into the future.’
A limited number of trees will be available to participants of the workshop who can provide a space in Bundoran for a tree to be planted. This will then depend on site suitability.
Admission to the masterclass workshop is free of charge but spaces are limited to 25. To apply for a place please fill out the form at www.discoverbundoran.com/signup
