Top places for running in Bundoran
There’s lots of top places for running in the town and the area in general. We’ve enlisted the help of local man, athlete and former Cara Run Race Director Paddy Donoghue to guide you through the best options to keep fit during your stay!
Bundoran Coastal Run
Starting and finishing at the Bundoran Tourist Office – going over past Waterworld, turning right at gates to Great Northern Hotel, continue to KFC turning left up Tullan Strand road, along the Roguey cliff walk with stunning views across Tullan Strand, Donegal Bay, the Fairy Bridges and the town as you come back along the seafront. Continue past the tourist office, crossing the bridge and passing the 5k mark at the Allingham Hotel. Continue out the West End to the Portbeg Holiday homes turning right here bringing you onto the West End cliff walk, heading back towards town to the main road. Cross the road here into Dinglei Coush, staying on the through road to the GAA football pitch on your left. Take a left here and continue on straight to the street, turning right here to bring you back to the tourist office. Well done.
Bundoran 10K Loop
Start and finish at the Bundoran Tourist Office. Head out the West End towards Tullaghan (R267), at the Tullaghan roundabout, take 1st exit left onto the bypass (N15) towards Ballyshannon / Donegal Town. Continue on the bypass to the Drumacrin roundabout, take 1st exit left (R267) to Bundoran North, continue a short distance to Finner Road roundabout, 1st exit left towards Bundoran along Finner Road / Single Street to KFC, turning right here onto Tullan Strand Road and continue along Tullan Strand road, onto the Roguey cliff walk down along the sea front back to the Tourist office and the finish.

Bundoran 15k Loop
A 15k (9+ mile) loop around Bundoran taking in some quiet and relatively traffic free road with good surface and shelter. Leaving from the Tourist office, follow the Promenade Road along the sea front, up Roguey cliff walk, down Tullan Strand Road to KFC. Taking a left here, along Single Street to Finner Road roundabout, 2nd exit on roundabout to Drumacrin roundabout, 2nd exit to the N15, continue to the slip road on the right, right off the slip road heading for Bundoran centre, short hump and sharp right at the top onto the Newtown Road. Continue on this road to a T junction onto the Moy road. Go right, sign posted Kinlough and continue over some humps and lumps, take the 2nd left onto the Rock Road continuing to a T junction. Here cross this road (R280) and go left onto the Ross Road. Follow this road in a complete loop, (2k approx) to rejoin the R2870 at a T junction. take a left for Bundoran and continue onto Church Road, passing the Church on your right to a T junction at Madden’s Bridge Bar corner, turning right across the bridge to the finish at the Tourist office on the left. Well done.

The annual Bundoran 10 takes place each March in the town! This event comprises a 5k run, 10 mile walk and the anchor event – the 10 mile run. If you fancy taking part then now’s the time to start your training!
