Bundoran counts down to Christmas!
With less than 4 weeks to go until Christmas, Bundoran is gearing up for the season with lots of festive events and entertainment for the month of December.
Events range from a Christmas Craft & Food Fair to an 80s disco, the annual Bundoran Christmas Quiz and Christmas Day Dip as well as a host of live music at venues across the town.
Both the Railway Bar and the Bird’s Nest bars will host their customer appreciation nights early in the month while the Allingham Arms will present its usual star studded array of Ireland’s best country singers throughout the month including Mike Denver, Jimmy Buckley, Derek Ryan and Robert Mizzell with Johnny Brady singing you into 2024 on New Year’s Eve.
Christmas Party nights take place at the Great Northern Hotel and the Allingham Arms with the Allingham also hosting their Santa Sunday Lunch on the 10th and 17th of December.
Nostalgia will be to the fore at Eclipse Cinema as they are programming some of the top Christmas movies in history including White Christmas, The Grinch, Home Alone, The Polar Express as well as the brand new release which is sure to be a big hit for the season… Wonka.
For those wanting to support local when it comes to their Christmas shopping, there’s no better event than the Christmas Craft & Food Fair being held at the Atlantic Apartotel on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th of December with an abundance of local crafters displaying their goods from home bakes to prints to wreaths, woodwork, bracelets and handmade toys. It should also be remembered that many businesses across town from retail to restaurants, hotels and entertainment and attractions will have vouchers for sale for their products and services if you just can’t decide what to get that special someone.
There will be live music at many venues across town throughout December from country to rock to trad. Check back often to the event page above for all the updates.
One of the highlights of the Christmas season in town as usual is the annual Bundoran Christmas Quiz which will take place in the Chasin Bull on Main Street on December 23rd – with proceeds going to Ozanam House/St Vincent De Paul
The Christmas Day swim will take place on the 25th just after midday on Main Beach when hundreds of people are expected to continue the tradition of running into the sea for a dip before the big Christmas dinner!
All the usual amenities of the town will be available over the festive season including the Rougey & West End Walks as well as outdoor swimming opportunities at both the Thrupenny & West End Pools.
The Tidy Towns team will also be hard at work erecting the Christmas lights at the start of the month and will no doubt help to create a really festive atmosphere across Bundoran.
