Second annual Lakeside Triathlon takes place on August 23rd

Details have been revealed of the second annual Lakeside Triathlon which will take place at the Lakeside Centre in Ballyshannon on Saturday August 23rd at 11am hosted by MSC Tri in conjunction with Erne Enterprise.

The Triathlon Ireland sanctioned event, organised by triathletes for triathletes, will include a 750 metre swim, a 23km cycle and a 5km run across a route that takes in the Assaroe lake (swim), Bundoran (cycle) and the picturesque Knather Woods (run) and is expected to attract competitors from all across Ireland – both experienced and beginners.

Race director Niall Clancy of Mullaghmore Tri Club said ‘following the success of last year’s event, we are delighted to host the second annual Lakeside Triathlon. The route, while challenging will suit both seasoned triathletes as well as those competing for the first time and we would encourage anybody who has been training for their first triathlon to give this one a go as the course is particularly suitable for first timers as it is a flat route’.

CEO at Erne Enterprise Development Company Eimear Keon said ‘The popularity of triathlons is increasing year by year and we hope that by holding an event like this in Ballyshannon it will put the town on the map for triathlons and athletes as well as giving the town a boost as the summer season comes to a close. We were overwhelmed with the success of last year’s event and to host it again was a no brainer.’

Entry for the inaugural Lakeside Triathlon is just €35 and can be made via www.triathlonireland.com. Full details of the course are available on www.msctri.com.
