Bundoran Community buys a bank!

Bundoran Community Development CLG is delighted to announce the purchase of the A.I.B building on Main St. Bundoran as its new community premises.

The ATM located on the building is being retained in its current location. This follows negotiations between A.I.B. and Bundoran Community Development CLG.  Bundoran Community Development CLG was formed in 2009 with a view to obtaining a community facility for the town.

The group has been working very hard since then to ensure that this would happen. This work entailed group members undergoing training in areas such as development of a governance code for community groups, maximising community space, child protection courses, first aid and the integration of children with disabilities in various activities. This training included many cross border initiatives and much co-operation.

The group also developed a business plan for the new facility. Bundoran Community Development CLG has organised a number of very successful community activities since its formation including Community days and some very enjoyable fundraising events. It has also co-operated with and supported other groups in their work in the community.

Bundoran Community Dev. CLG would like to thank most sincerely the former Town Council for its commitment of €201,000 (Two hundred and one thousand Euros) to help secure this Community facility.

The Group would like to acknowledge in particular the work of Charlie Garrett whose knowledge and advice was invaluable.

All community based organisations in the area are welcome to view the facility. Hopefully many will see the group as something which will benefit them and will want to get involved with Bundoran Community Development CLG.
