Transatlantic Connections Conference launched in New York

Bundoran, Donegal and the scenic and cultural attractions of the Wild Atlantic Way were the centre of attention last Wednesday evening at The Irish Consulate in New York City.

Minister of State for The Diaspora, Jimmy Deenihan T.D. was guest speaker at the Drew University Call For Papers for Transatlantic Connections Conference 3 , to be held again in Bundoran next January 13th to 16th 2016. Speakers also included Consul General of Ireland, Barbara Jones, Dean Robert Ready, Drew University, Niamh Hamill and John O’Connell of the Institute of Study Abroad Ireland, and Derryman, Don Mullan.

The large gathering included representatives from the Irish American Cultural Institute, The Donegal Association of New York, The Irish American Association of New Jersey and Buncrana native Jane McCarter from the New York Irish Center.

Delegates will converge on the sea side town in the New Year to discuss and present papers on subjects including Diaspora Studies, Irish Language, Literature, History and Peace Studies.
