Cara Challenge Launched for 2017!
The 7th annual Cara Bundoran Challenge was launched last night (Thursday 10th November) in the new Bundoran Community Centre located in the old AIB Bank building on Main Street. The event will take place on the weekend of March 10th – 12th 2017 and will again feature the 5km run on Friday night, 10 mile walk, 10 mile run, 10 k run on Saturday and will culminate with the 21k cycle on Sunday.
Speaking at the launch, David Doherty of Tir Chonaill AC said that the event is now being used as a benchmark by athletes as they plan their year’s running and congratulated all those involved. Joint Director of Cara Pharmacy – title sponsors of the event, Canice Nicholas added that they have been delighted by the response already to this year’s event. “We only put registration live on Tuesday and already we have 200 registered – in our first year we didn’t have that many registered by Christmas! We’re also hoping to break our record for charity fundraising and hit the €100,000 mark. Our charity partners for this year will be announced very soon.”
Registration is now open online here or you can pick up a physical entry form in all branches of Cara Pharmacy and also at Bundoran Tourist Office.
Bundoran Tourism Officer Shane Smyth added ‘Discover Bundoran is delighted once again to sponsor this annual event which sees thousands of people converge into the town in early March. The Cara Challenge is an important milestone in the annual calendar of events here in Bundoran and I wish the organising committee and indeed all the participants the best of luck with it.’
