Just days to go until Soapbox Sunday!

As the June bank holiday weekend draws closer, there’s just days to go until the annual Bundoran Lifeboat Soapbox Race. The flagship fundraising event for the volunteer crew of Bundoran RNLI Lifeboat will take place on Sunday June 3rd 2018 at Astoria Road in Bundoran.

The event will take place from 1pm on the day and will also include the popular €1000 ball race. Event director Cormac McGurren says there is a great buzz around this year’s soapbox race ‘we were unable to run the event last year but we are full steam ahead for Bank Holiday Sunday.  There’s lots of interest in the event and the weather, fingers crossed, looks promising. You can register via our website www.bundoranlifeboatsoapboxrace.com or just show up on the day with your soapbox and team. Entry for a soapbox is just €40 with all proceeds on the day raising funds for our volunteer crew’s training efforts and the upkeep of the lifeboat.’

The €1000 Ball Race will also take place on the day whereby plastic balls will be dropped down the hill with the first one through the funnel at the bottom winning €1000. Balls will be on sale on the day for €5.

DJ on the day will be iRadio’s Dave Duke who has volunteered his services for every single soapbox race since the event began back in 2012.

Overall, a fun family day out is guaranteed with free admission.

Participants are encouraged to register their soapboxes at www.bundoranlifeboatsoapboxrace.com where updates on arrangements for the day will also be posted.
